Enjoy an unforgettable and inspiring day as she presents her talk “How America Made Me a Feminist.” “I have lived in four very different countries in my life. I was born in Czechoslovakia, moved to Sweden at 9, then moved to Paris at 15, and finally came to the US at 18. These four countries have shaped me as a person and a woman…(I will discuss) what it was like to grow up a woman in four different countries, the commonalities, differences, and the different perceptions of women in these four countries.” Paulina Porizkova was born in the former Czechoslovakia. Her parents escaped the imminent Soviet invasion of 1968, leaving Paulina in the care of her grandmother. Eventually, after many years and great drama well documented by the Swedish media (including pressure from the Swedish Prime Minister, Olof Palme), the family reunited in Sweden in 1973 when she was 9. At fifteen she was discovered by Elite Model Management Paris and began modeling full time in Paris. Over her nearly forty year modeling career she has achieved an incredible list milestones: a record number of Cosmopolitan and Glamour covers, the first model to be on the cover of Sport Illustrated as well as Vogue, the largest cosmetic contract to date (1989) with Estee Lauder, over 700 magazine covers, and named on an endless number of “most beautiful” lists. In the 90’s she segued into making movies and TV, (starring in 16 feature movies and numerous TV appearances), as well as becoming a mother and a writer. Her first book, Ralphie the Roach was a children’s book, followed by the novel “Model Summer.” She also writes movie/TV scripts and op-eds for periodicals like the Huffington Post and the NY Times.  Get your tickets for Passion now by clicking here.
