David Srere is a man of many interests and talents. But how does he navigate such a demanding professional and personal life?
David’s secret weapon: the power of simplicity. “Simplicity brings clarity instead of confusion, productivity instead of paralysis, and ultimately happiness instead of angst,” he says.
It’s not easy to maintain an organized and efficient lifestyle, but if anyone has the diligence and the expertise to offer advice on the topic, it’s David.
His TEDxNavesink talk, “The Real Reason Simple is Smart,” will discuss the many benefits of incorporating simplicity into one’s lifestyle.
David is the Co-CEO and chief strategy officer of Siegel+Gale, a firm in the corporate branding field. He has worked in the arena for 30 years, and has significant experience in the business realm.
“The key to building great brands is not the communication strategies you choose, but those you are willing to walk away from,” David says.
Almost everyone has struggled with saying “no” at one time or another, but David believes in the importance of this two-letter word. “Well-branded organizations know who they’re for, but truly great brands know who they’re not for,” David says. “This is the key to brand building; learning to say ‘no.’”
David also acknowledges the difference that face-to-face interaction can make in a technology-reliant world. “We encourage people to get off their computers, their tablets, and their phones and to sit down with each other,” he says. “On any given day at Siegel+Gale, you will find people from different practices sitting around a table and trying to figure things out.”
David’s expertise in the areas of education, energy, entertainment, technology, and telecommunications is impressive. But he’s most passionate about creating impactful brands for people. “Throughout my career, I have developed a passion for organizational purpose and articulating not just what organizations do for people, but why they do it,” he says.
David currently resides in New Jersey. He is looking forward to speaking at TedXNavesink because of its local setting. “On a global scale, TED is a meaningful, relevant forum to spread and share ideas, which I believe is more important today than ever before”.
Amidst David’s professional and personal success, he still recognizes the necessity of setting a good example. “I try to adhere to the old adage—actions speak louder than words,” he says. “It’s all about living with authenticity: be passionate about what you do, walk the walk, talk the talk, and be willing to make tough decisions when necessary.”
David’s authenticity is obvious, and he will “talk the talk” on April 11 at TEDxNavesink.
