Lauren Cox’s TEDx talk “A Spark of Passion that Shaped a Lifetime” will include dancers Gabriella Sibeko, Dana Wiener and Tyrone Bevans as she integrates spoken word, music and dance in this special choreographed piece. We’ve told you about Lauren, now let’s tell you about this talented company she brings with her.

Gabriella Sibeko (Montreal, Canada)
Gabriella began dancing at a young age, studying classical ballet under the direction of Paula Urrutia. She started training at the The Ailey School in 2013 as a Scholarship Student and later continued in the Certificate Program, graduating in May of 2016. She has performed works by Alvin Ailey, Nathan Trice, Mike Esperenza, Yoshito Sakaruba, Ellenore Scott, Amy Hall, Hope Boykin, Francesca Harper, Jacqueline Buglisi, Darshan Singh Bhuller and Dwight Rhoden to name a few. Ms. Sibeko has performed as a featured dancer in various music videos, including “Serenading in the Trenches” by Sondre Lerche and “Show Off” by Ana Kay. She has co-choreographed an international video campaign produced by Beyoncé Knowles and The Global Goals, entitled “Freedom: International Day of the Girl.” Ms. Sibeko worked as an assistant choreographer for Nathan Trice and Emily Greenwell.

She has performed as a principal company member with IKADA Contemporary Dance Company, Gotham Dance Theater, Dirty Soles Dance, Genesis Contemporary Dance Theatre, and as a guest artist for Abarukas Dance and cullen+them. Ms. Sibeko is currently a principal company member with nathantrice/RITUALS dance theater, BARE Dance Company, ELSCO Dance Company and DEPTH Dance.

Dana Wiener (New York, NY)
Dana has been passionate about dance all her life, beginning training in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap at a young age. At fourteen, she entered Joffrey Ballet School Jazz and Contemporary Pre-Professional Trainee program, and moved to New York. While at The Joffrey, Dana performed the works of Joanna Numata, Scott Fox, Kevin Wynn, Marlies Yerby, Ephrat “Bounce” Asheire, Tiffany Rae- Fisher, Lauren Cox. At seventeen, she was accepted by Dana Foglia Dance Training Programs’ three month intensive Dance Mentorship Program in Los Angeles, after which she returned to The Joffrey. Dana performed the works of Jose “Boi Boi” Tenna, Ryan Davis, and Dana Foglia, and assisted in the production of DFD’s Vatic performances in Los Angeles and in New York.

Dana works with contemporary based dance company VESSELS and is a rotating member of Lauren Cox’s philanthropy based dance company, Humans Collective. Dana also was a member of Kelly Peter’s renowned hip hop crew Generation X for two years. She has assisted the likes of Lauren Cox, Emily Bufferd, Charles Smith, and Joanna Numata. Dana has also worked as Assistant Production Manager in the CURRENT SESSIONS VI, Issue I and has worked as a personal assistant to Wes Veldink. Currently, she is working as a freelance dancer around New York City primarily in the commercial world and is intensely studying hip hop foundations.

Tyrone Bevans (New York, NY)
Tyrone was born and raised in the Bronx. He is a dancer, choreographer, and visual artist. He began his journey in dance while studying at the Mark Morris Dance Group and Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance.He is currently dancing for Christal Brown’s INSPIRIT, a dance company and Joya Powell’s Movement of the People Dance Company. In the past Tyrone has performed for choreographers and artist such as Vessels, Amalgamate Dance Company, Maya Orchin, Enforced Arch Dance Company,International Affair, Sons Of Kick, Neil Schwartz, and Karla Garcia.
