LOLO is the composer and lyricist of the country/folk musical Songbird (book by Michael Kimmel), which had its Off-Broadway debut at 59E59 Theater in October 2015, where it debuted as a New York Times Critics’ Pick. It is being produced at Two River Theater in Red Bank from June 9 – July 1.
Born and raised in the small town of Jackson, TN, Lauren originated the role of Ilse in the 8-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Spring Awakening. In 2008, she signed with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and began her professional songwriting career. Following a 3-year European tour in support of her first album, Wasted In Jackson, she returned to the U.S. to continue her writing and the last leg of the tour, which included performances alongside and with many artists, including Florence and the Machine, Fall Out Boy, Matt Nathanson, ThirdStory and Annie Lennox. Her second album, In Loving Memory Of When I Gave A Shit, was released in 2016 under the name LOLO with Atlantic Records/Crush Music. The second single from the album, “Shine,” reached #5 on the iTunes Music charts.
When Lauren is not on stage performing as LOLO, she spends her time writing for other artists and bands. In 2017, she was nominated for a Grammy Award for her writing work on Panic! At The Disco’s hit album, Death Of A Bachelor, which has been RIAA-Certified Platinum twice.
